The Education and Advocacy Station
WHGE 95.3FM first started broadcasting on the airwaves on January 18th 2018 by and has since become a local source for daily cultural education. WHGE founder, Harmon Carey with help from the Wilmington community, has made it his goal to educate the BLACK community about their heritage and the current status quo. WHGE 95.3FM is the first BLACK owned and operated radio station serving the downtown Wilmington city area of Delaware, and a licensed subsidiary of the Afro-American Historical Society. We are community run and focused on delivering wholesome and refreshing black culture, history and wisdom over the airwaves. Our goal is to educate the populace on the history many have forgotten over time and the reality that we all live in today.
The Future
WHGE 95.3 FM recognizes the recent advantages of technology and social media and is bridging the gap to include podcasting, broadcast communication classes and empower our next generation of media personalities, radio hosts and content creators. We look forward to launching the online component of WHGE to include our young subscribers and expand our community online with podcasts and shows not found through our local broadcast radius.
